All of our courses are focused on educating individuals to the joys of sailing. We hope the diverse choices in youth courses will help those families with scheduling conflicts. We utilize U.S. Sailing certified instructors in all of our courses.
The boats we sail are Vanguard 420’s which are ideal - they are simple enough to be operated by an individual with no experience, yet they have most all of the complexities of larger keelboats sailing in the ocean.
All lessons except ocean sailing will be taught on Norton Pond at Breezemere Park in Lincolnville, Maine.

Our Beginner/Intermediate Youth course is focused on providing kids with a fun opportunity to learn and hone basic sailing skills. Norton Pond offers warm waters, gentle breezes, and minimal boat traffic in which to safely practice sailing. All students are issued a U.S. Sailing textbook from which we instruct in all the topics necessary to sail with confidence. It’s not unheard of for our students to be solo sailing by the end of the course! Ages 10 and up.
The Beginner/Intermediate Youth course is offered as either a 2 week course meeting every afternoon, or as a 1 week course meeting all day. The full day course will differ only in the variety necessary to keep kids attention. Students should also come prepared with lunch, clothing, etc. to be out of the house for seven hours.
For those young adults who have already got the rudimentary skills down pat and want to progress in sailing we will offer a one week Advanced course at the end of the summer. The intent of this course is to expose students to sailing opportunities outside of Norton Pond. There are plans to race on the pond, sail with other clubs in the ocean, get some keelboat experience, and possibly participate in some of the local competitions held in the midcoast harbors. Youth who have successfully passed a Beginner/Intermediate course are eligible.
The Adult Sailing class is focused on those who see all the sailing here in the midcoast, but find it just out of reach. Here is an inexpensive way to get out on a protected body of water and learn a skill that you can take anywhere. It’s perfect for spouses, father/son or mother/daughter, and friends who just want to spend a few hours of fun each week relaxing on our beautiful Maine summer evenings. The content is similar to our youth courses, but presented in a more mature level.
Our Women’s class is dedicated to our female sailors who want to spend an evening on the lake with the ladies learning something new or just continuing a love of sailing. The content is similar to our adult sailing course.
Open Sailing is an opportunity for sailors to get out on the lake for just a single evening. We know that Maine is a vacation destination, so make us part of your vacation. You can join a race around the marks or just cruise the lake. We’ll be “renting” out the boats every Wednesday & Thursday night for $30 - easily split between two sailors. We don’t demand a lot of experience, but you’ll need some to make this a safe endeavor.
On Open Sailing night parents of youth sailors can take advantage of this evening to see the progress their young sailor is making.
